SkinMedica offers different peels to treat different conditions. If you have sensitive skin, or this will be the first time you’re trying a treatment like this, we recommend the Illuminize Peel. This peel features elements that are gentle on your skin while still giving you a brighter and more even appearance.

If you need a more powerful treatment, we suggest trying the Vitalize or Rejuvenize Peel. It is one of the strongest cosmetic treatments we use and works well for treating sun-damaged skin. It will also diminish the look of minor scars while smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.

Before your treatment, you’ll have a virtual or in-person personalized consultation with one of our providers. They will review your medical history and conduct an examination while also answering your concerns and discussing your desired goals. You’ll receive a detailed explanation about your procedure as you and your specialist develop a treatment plan designed to help you attain the youthful appearance you crave. If you prefer to do the treatment the same day as your in-person consultation we are happy to accommodate.

During your treatment, your provider will gently cleanse your skin prior to applying the peel. SkinMedica peels actual application procedure is approximately 20 minutes and is mild enough that anesthetics are unnecessary. Depending on the type of peel there are 2 to three steps and you will experience a mild heat or tingling sensation for a few minutes. After the peel, you may feel like you have a minor sunburn, but the application of aloe or a cool towel helps. By the end of the day, it should feel back to normal. Starting 2 – 4 days after your skin will peel mildly and using a gentle cleanser and moisturizer will help gently clean your skin to remove the peeling.

One Week Before Your SkinMedica^® Peel, Avoid These Products/Procedures:

• Electrolysis
• Waxing
• Depilatory Creams
• Laser Hair Removal

Three Days Before Your SkinMedica^® Peel, Avoid These Products/Procedures:

• Retin-A, Renova®, Differin®, Tazorac®
• Any products containing retinol, alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) or beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), or benzoyl peroxide
• Any exfoliating products that may be drying or irritating

Note: The use of these products/treatments prior to your peel may increase skin sensitivity and cause a stronger reaction

How can I protect my skin post peel?

Since the new skin is more susceptible to sunburn, extra precautions should be taken to limit sun exposure for at least one week after the peel. It is imperative to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen product with an SPF of 30 or higher.
